Your primary responsibilities in this role will require expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL. Your primary responsibilities include writing complex stored procedures, reports, triggers, ad-hoc queries and working with development team members. You will also be required to troubleshoot and optimize the performance of the database and stored procedures. You must be detail oriented to succeed in this role.
Required: Able to obtain security clearance at Secret level as a minimal
Plus: Active Secret Clearance minimum, highly desired Top Secret /SCI Eligible
Required: Must be a US Citizen with a valid U.S. Passport.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences is highly desired, at a minimal 2 years of college with 8 years experience is acceptable
2 - 4 years management experience (civilian or military)
U.S. Military experience (understanding of military customs, courtesies, and procedures and excellent interpersonal skills)
Willingness to work long hours for extended periods of time and travel in high risk environment
The candidate must have strong written and oral communications skills - expert level
Experience leading and participating in a project of this size and scope
Microsoft SharePoint Experience - ability to build, resource and track schedule and activities
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)
Job Description:
Writing complex stored procedures and ad-hoc queries (utilizing, for example: cursors, loops, inner joins, left joins, temp tables, user defined functions, views, indexes, de-normalization, etc.)
Strong knowledge and experience in writing store procedures, triggers, views, user defined function and complex queries for Ad-Hoc Business Intelligence reporting purpose.
Creating reports using Microsoft SQL Reporting Services.
Performing adhoc troubleshooting and data correction for end users
Designing new database tables, creating indexes/foreign keys/etc.
Analyzing requirements and engaging in discussions and brainstorming with technical and non-technical staff
Refactoring/troubleshooting existing stored procedures as needed
Provide data management through the development and maintenance of data models and data element standards and definitions.
Estimate SQL Server database capacities; develop methods for monitoring database capacity and usage. Perform routine space and consistency checks and manage SQL security.
Managing, tuning, and performance monitoring of SQL Server databases. This includes consideration for optimization of server and storage utilization, troubleshooting hardware problems.
Develop/Maintain/Enhance custom monitoring of database servers/processes and tune databases to ensure high availability/performance and no failed scheduled jobs or backups.
Reconfiguration and performance tuning of large databases.
Maintaining user logins, roles, and permissions.
Establish mechanisms for data backup/restore of relational databases; provide restoration services as needed.
Develop/Automate scripts to verify and monitor health/integrity of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Design, implement and support replication, active/passive clustering as and when required.
Work with infrastructure staff to optimize database backup/recovery procedures.
Work with infrastructure staff to develop business continuity plans including database clustering.
Ensure all SDLC processes and database standards are followed.
Deliver well written/maintained documentation at the end of deliverables.
Cross train and support fellow team members to ensure cross functionality and backups within the team.
Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years experience writing complex T-SQL queries (working with complex joins, temp tables, string manipulation, data reconciliation, query tuning, etc.)
Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008.
Demonstrate experience with relational database capacity planning on MS SQL Server 2005/2008 based environments. Assess and monitor database storage requirements.
Experience in replication, active/passive clustering, disaster recovery, and load distribution of database services.
Experience with Database Hardware troubleshooting (SAN, Memory, CPU, Read / Writes, etc.).
Must be familiar with developing SQL stored procedures and optimizing SQL statements to run efficiently.
Experience with database installations, upgrades, migrations, back-up, and recovery in Microsoft SQL database environment.
Experience with SQL performance monitoring and measurement tools.
Solid understanding of SQL Server security administration.
Experience in managing multiple tasks in a fast paced process-oriented environment.
Experience in working with different teams (Operations and CM Teams).
Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written).
Experience in providing support in a 24x7 environment and on-call for production escalations.
Experience with SSRS required.
Required:
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE) and/or one or more of the following - significant experience may substitute for certifications if technical interviews reveal strong equivalent experience and training to that of a holder of this certification.
