KEY REQUIREMENTS:
•You must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National.
•You must complete a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
•You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
DUTIES:
This Staff Assistant position is located in the Personnel Security Section, Security Branch, Security Services and Assessments Division (SSA), Office of Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (OLE/FAMS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). If selected for this position, you will be responsible for providing overall operational support on general administrative and program issues regarding policies, procedures and requirements governing the office operations. Duties include, but are not limited to:
•Serving as the liaison between the Personnel Security Section and other SSA staff for the flow of critical information.
•Developing procedures for establishing, operating and assessing the effectiveness of administrative control systems.
•Monitoring and tracking administrative actions and reports for completeness and responsiveness to ensure commitments and milestones are met and any delinquencies are brought to the attention of the supervisor.
•Providing advice and guidance to all levels of leadership and employees sufficient to resolve recurring problems or those requiring adaptation of past precedents through the sharing of information or recommending alternative approaches, including the review of policies and precedents under limited guidance.
•Preparing written responses to inquiries and developing standard operating procedures, memoranda, analytical reports and other correspondence.
•Reviewing all management directives received for the Chief's concurrence to ensure compliance with Personnel Security Section policies and procedures.
•Identifying and proposing technically sound and administratively compliant solutions to a range of recurring issues requiring considerable judgment to ensure that recommendations and approaches best meet TSA operational needs.
•Maintaining the staff roster and performing human resource administrative functions for the Personnel Security Section.
The major duties described above reflect the full performance level of this position. Typically, at the lower Pay Band (Pay Band G), you will perform the same duties but will receive more guidance and training and work assignments may be less complex.
