Salary Range: $119,554 - $179,700 USD
Position Location: Washington, DC

The Chief Procurement Law Counsel and Chief Trial Attorney is responsible for all acquisition legal services to management, technical, and contracting officials at United States Coast Guard (USCG) Headquarters and oversees acquisition legal services at all other all levels of the USCG including all logistics centers and operational commands.  The  Counsel provides comprehensive legal advice and counsel, and represents the USCG in litigation, involving supply, service, ship-repair and varied contracts of all kinds to complex major systems, construction, research and development, and information technology, at all stages of acquisition from requirement generation through award, contract administration, and claims resolution.

The Chief serves as the USCG representative on matters before the Government Accountability Office, Civilian Board of Contract Appeals, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, U.S. District Courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In addition, the Chief provides legal advice and counsel in all aspects of procurement and acquisition to prevent litigation, and recommends the compromise or settlement of protests and claims in the best interests of the USCG.

Applicants must possess the mandatory professional/technical and executive core qualifications listed in the job announcement on USAJOBS.  Applicants must possess a J.D. or LL.B. degree and be a member in good standing of a state, territory of the U.S., District of Columbia or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Bar.  The selectee must attain a Top Secret clearance, and undergo pre/post-appointment random drug testing.  U.S. Citizenship required.
