Correctional Healthcare Companies is currently seeking a DON to work at Weld County Jail in Greeley, CO.  The candidate must have at least two years of experience in a supervisory role (i.e., charge nurse, nurse manager, etc.).

Essential Job Duties:

Participates in the recruitment and orientation of new nursing personnel ensuring staffing levels meet contract requirements.
Supervises all operational staff including, but not limited to, nursing personnel, medical assistants, EMT’s, medical records and clerical personnel.
Actively participates in cost containment measures.
Maintains confidentiality and security of health records and protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
Serves as coach and mentor to all direct reports, assisting them in meeting or exceeding performance expectations.  When necessary, takes appropriate disciplinary action in consultation with Health Services Administrator, Contract Manager and/or Human Resources.
Participates in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the Health Care Unit.
Actively participates in in-service training programs and staff meetings.
Collaborates with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop and initiate health review.
Supervises the preparation of records of nursing care and other treatments given patients.
Supervises the implementation of various nursing care techniques.
Is aware of emergency procedures in the event of emergency or crisis situations and the appropriate plan of action governed by triage and written guidelines.
Capable of giving CPR instructions and able to take charge in a CPR emergency.
May administer prescribed treatment or medications to inmate patients as needed and medically required.
Responsible for security of medications, supplies and equipment.
Prepares and submits daily, monthly and annual medical records and reports as requested to the Health Services Administrator.
Attend staff and Administrative meetings as requested.
Must be on call at all times to respond to staffing, administrative and medical situations within the facility.
