DUTIES:

This Transportation Security Specialist position is located within the Security Services and Assessments Division (SSA), Office of Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (OLE/FAMS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). If selected for this position, you will apply TSA policies, directives, and regulations to coordinate security assessments and liaison with law enforcement and other security agencies.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Applying policies, directives, and regulations (security and non-security) that relate to TSA operations and programs to create or implement policies in support of TSA's operational needs.
  • Performing complex, in-depth studies and coordinating working groups on significant law enforcement issues which have impact on national transportation operations, programs, and functions.
  • Providing professional guidance in monitoring and evaluating existing transportation operations security and related law enforcement programs.
  • Developing and implementing innovative approaches and long term improvements.
  • Developing and sustaining cooperative working relationships and facilitating cooperation within the organization and customer groups.
  • Coordinating with representatives of other international governments, Federal, State, and local agencies associated with TSA assessment activities.
  • Providing technical assistance to TSA management and liaison to other Federal, State, and local transportation operations and law enforcement agencies on major vulnerabilities involving transportation infrastructure. 

    The major duties described above reflect the full performance level of this position. Typically, the lower Pay Band (Pay Band I) performs the same duties but will receive more guidance and training or projects and work assignments may be less complex.
