Under general supervision of the Human Resources Manager, a Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing a variety of duties supporting the Human Resources function.
With considerable discretion, judgment, and tact, performs confidential and diverse clerical,
administrative and support duties relating to all aspects of the Human Resources function
Some of the job duties include:
Prepares, maintains and safeguards confidential employee personnel files, records and information
Performs a wide variety of clerical duties, including but not limited to: entering and maintaining data in multiple computer software programs, preparation of routine correspondence
Responsible for exempt and non-exempt employee recruitment. This responsibility includes but is not limited to: placing advertisements, identifying and developing relationships with entities that are
sources for applicants, reviewing resumes and applications, scheduling and interviewing applicants, making job offers, maintaining proper documentation, and completion of all recruitment-related correspondence to applicants and selected employees.
Prepares and maintains forms, records and files relating to recruitment, pre-employment background investigation, selection, employee performance evaluation, salary administration, discipline
Completes state and federal required reports and surveys
Researches and prepares reporting on recruiting, turnover and retention, and various miscellaneous reports.
Provides back up to other positions in Human Resources as needed.
Possesses the ability to maintain confidential information in a professional, discrete manner.
Completes projects that are assigned by the Human Resource Manager and SVP Human Resources.
Reviews and corrects employee electronic time keeping as needed
Processes and verifies employee payroll as backup to Human Resources Officer
Prepares various complex calculations utilizing advanced Excel spreadsheets
Prepares HRIS and other software customized and standard reports generation; statistical reporting;
annual employee benefits statement preparation and distribution
Enters data for on-line systems relating to pre-employment background investigation
Requirements for Human Resources Generalist Recruiter CA:
Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through five or more years of increasingly responsible related experience.
Ability to accurately enter data and maintain records in various Human Resources software, including electronic time keeping, human resource information system (HRIS), employee performance management and salary administration
Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations relating to employment, payroll and other related Human Resources functions
Credit Union experience preferred, but not required
Experience with Computer system/software to effectively perform complex record keeping, report writing and calculations in Excel, and Computer system/software to effectively update and upgrade information and software capability in the various Human Resources software, including electronic time keeping, human resource information system (HRIS), employee performance management and salary administration
Ability to organize work to meet deadlines
Ability to promote and maintain a positive image of the Credit Union to employees, vendors and the public
Ability to type 60 words per minute with accuracy
Knowledge of English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Ability to read, understand and interpret instructions, memos and documents, such as employee handbook, procedure manuals, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions
Ability to listen and respond effectively
Ability to write clear and concise reports and correspondence
Ability to make effective presentations and to answer questions clearly and accurately
Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as reimbursement, incentives, percentages, ratios and rates
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Ability to quickly identify and resolve problems
Ability to analyze situations and implement solutions independently
Ability to be bonded
