DUTIES:
If selected for this position, you will serve as an Industrial Engineer in the Mission Analysis Branch within the Office of Security Capabilities (OSC), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). You will apply an advanced knowledge of Industrial Engineering principles, theories, and concepts to accomplish assignments. Additionally, you will develop plans and techniques, and perform multiple, varying and complex engineering assignments under the limited direction of a manager or more experienced Industrial Engineer.
Duties include:
•Developing advanced modeling and simulations tools, defining relevant data element standards, and establishing appropriate data collection methodologies.
•Utilizing advanced modeling and simulation tools to assess functional/operational requirements of new technologies.
•Assessing the design effectiveness of baggage handling systems through the development and application of airport simulation models.
The major duties described above reflect the full performance level of this position. Typically, the lower pay band (Pay Band H) performs the same duties but will receive more guidance and projects or work assignments may be less complex.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
In addition to the basic requirements, to qualify for the SV-H Pay Band, (equivalent to GS-12), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-G Pay Band or GS-11 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the expert knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes:
•applying basic knowledge of industrial engineering, operations research, simulation, and statistical analysis techniques;
•understanding and practical knowledge of baggage handling systems and baggage screening equipment; and
•utilizing simulation tools and techniques, developing and deploying discreet event simulations, planning and organizing technical and contracting resources to support technical evaluations of complex proposals.
