The National Call for Photos is a campaign by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund to collect a photograph for
each of the more than 58,000 men and women whose names are inscribed on
The Wall. Collected pictures will be used in the Education Center at
The Wall and can also be found on The Virtual Wall. (Visit www.buildthecenter.org to learn more about the Education Center and the proposed Wall of Faces exhibit shown above.)
How to Locate Photos and Raise Awareness:
Research the Fallen:
· Go to www.vvmf.org/thewall and research the Vietnam casualties from your hometown and/or state. Explore the remembrances in hopes of finding contact information for family, friends and fellow veterans. Contact these individuals and request photographs or further information.
· Visit local libraries to research high school yearbooks and archives, which may contain newspaper obituaries with photographs.
Community Outreach:
· Contact state and local veterans' organizations and request assistance in locating photographs of the casualties from your local area. Examples include local Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Military Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion Posts and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Posts. Also, we encourage you to enlist the support of your local county leadership. The National Association of Counties has recently partnered with VVMF in the Call for Photos. Thanks to NACO's efforts, you can now search The Virtual Wall by county. NACO's website also offers great research tools and can provide the contact information for your local county officials. Please click on the logo below to research your county.

How to Submit a Photo:
Using the Virtual Wall
Obtain a scan of the photograph (this can be done at many different locations such as CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, etc.) with the highest quality setting possible. From the VVMF.org website, click on the Search The Wall tab and then search for the individuals name. Once you locate the individual, click on his or her profile, then post a remembrance. Fill out the necessary information and make sure to select "Attach an Image from My Computer." Locate the scanned file on your computer and submit the remembrance. If you chose to do so, an e-mail will be sent that notifies you when the image has been posted to the individual's profile page.

On The Virtual Wall, find the service member's profile page and click on "Post a Remembrance." Complete the required information and choose "Attach an Image from My Computer." Click on "Next Step" to review the remembrance before submitting it for approval.
E-mail your scanned image to VVMF
If you have a scanner at home, you can e-mail it as an attachment (jpg, jpeg or gif preferred) to vvmf@vvmf.org with the subject "Call for Photos." In the body of the e-mail, be sure to include the service member's name, your name, a password and any other information you would like included in the remembrance.
Mail a copy of your photograph to VVMF
Make a copy of your photo. VVMF does not want original photos and cannot be responsible for returning photos to donors. When having the photo copied, ask the photo professional to make it the highest quality possible, use a glossy finish and reproduce the photo at an 8 x 10 size, if possible. Fill out the photo submission form and package it up for mailing with the copy of the photo. When mailing, please indicate on the front of the envelope that a photo is enclosed. Mail to:
