Application submitted. Is there a way to find out what locations you will need certain AFSC's. I'm a 2A672 getting ready to separate and looking to move back to North Carolina.

Hi Joseph,

I asked one of my Air Force contacts about your question, and here is his response:

This person is an aerospace ground equipment person. Works with the support
equipment required to maintain and check out aircraft.
A good spot would be in the oil fields in North Dakota with one of the oil
companies.

He should print out his Verification of Military Experience and Training
(VMET) DD Form-2586. The site is http://www.dmdc.osd.mil/vmet It will list
his training and what it corresponds to in the civilian work force. Then he
can use any search engine, such as yours, to start searching for those type
jobs.

Also he should work with the base Transition Assistance Program (TAP) people
at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. If he does not have access to
the base he can find most of the information available through Turbo TAP.
http://www.turpotap.org He has job search, resume assistance, webinars on
resumes and interview, and a lot more helpful tips.

The state job bank website for North Carolina is: http://www.ncesc1.com

I ask our active duty person about the AFSC (Air force Specialty Code) and
she said she googled it up. If you get emails about specific military job
codes:

Air Force: AFSC (Air force Specialty Code)

Army and Marines: MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) Code

Navy: NEC: (Navy Enlisted Code) I guess the Naval Officers are NOC

I hope that answers your question; please email me at lucy@military-civilian.com if you need more information!
