VA Acquisition Academy Seeking Wounded Vets for the 2011 Class - No Degree Required

The VA Acquisition Academy  is currently recruiting candidates without a degree or less than 24 credits only for the 2011 class that  starts 10/10/2011.  Start with sending  your  resume  to kasey.kazakavich@va.gov.  If you meet the criteria we need to hear from you no later than Thursday by noon.

In general we are looking for wounded veterans, prefer combat wounded vets, who have a high-school degree and are motivated to complete a rigorous 3-year program. The first year is designed to work through the business credits required for the contract specialist career field. It includes the academic training, plus mental strength conditioning and a variety of other training (leadership, soft skills). The second and third years is designed to teach them the specific technical training as contract specialist, plus the other things mentioned in the attachment.

The training in the first year will be strictly here in Frederick, VA. Those selected will be here for that time. Whether they choose to move their families here will be up to them…the second and third years include both classroom time here in Frederick as well as job rotations out in the operational arena (at a VA site somewhere around the country). At the end of the third year, we will PCS them to their final location. They must be willing to sign a mobility agreement stating that we will move them where the need is (we do work with them much like an assignment officer in the military – they choose their top 3 locations from a list of available locations, and we match them up). We do not have housing here (we are not on a military base, and the closest base, Ft Detrick, does not offer military housing, even for their soldiers). Many of the veterans might be eligible for BAH and other benefits under various benefit programs.
