Help our troops in Afghanistan by sending shaving cream!

KITCHEN TABLE GANG TRUST Sets Up New Operation Shaving Cream Fund

Marines in Afghanistan have requested that people send shaving cream for them to mark mines and IEDs.

In response to a community effort to support U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan, the U.S. Marines in the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines' Cherokee Company are using shaving cream to mark IEDs (improvised explosive devices), and there has been overwhelming community support to send boxes of shaving cream to our troops stationed overseas in an effort to help save lives and limbs.

The Kitchen Table Gang is positioned to facilitate worthwhile projects such as this one and saw this project as the perfect opportunity to provide the vehicle to organize a internet-wide effort to show support of our troops. Anyone can make donation to the fund, and the Kitchen Table Gang will help facilitate purchasing and shipping the shaving cream to the troops. The effort has a goal of 10,000 cans, but the Kitchen Table Gang will continue to accept donations for this effort as long as there is a need. We will continue to update our newsletter with the progress of this initiative and relay the thanks we receive from our troops.

First Lt. Paul Herdener is deployed with Camp Pendleton, CA-based 1/5's Cherokee Company as a heavy weapons platoon commander said the public must remember that service members in Afghanistan are risking lives and limbs. "If we can prevent that from happening with a can of shaving cream, we need to get as much over there as we can," he said.

It should be noted that the shaving cream will be sent to soldiers and Marines throughout Afghanistan - not just the Marines of 1/5. What began as a project in the Rotary Club of Gainesville, GA has spread to other organizations and become a full-blown campaign.

To make a donation to the Operation Shaving Cream Fund, either mail a check to the Kitchen Table Gang Trust at 42922 Avenue 12, Madera, CA 93636-8866 or donate online using the PayPal icon on the first page of our website.
