Worklink, Thomas Nelson Community College, and New Horizons Regional
Education Center are pleased to announce a new level of partnership with
The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
Peninsula
Worklink is the provider for federally funded Workforce Innovation and
Opportunity Act (WIOA/WIA) programs for the Greater Peninsula region.
By partnering Registered Apprenticeship training with WIOA/WIA programs,
trainees who are accepted into Virginia Department of Labor and
Industry (DOLI) Registered Apprenticeship Programs may receive federal
funding assistance for required training and books. (Trainees must meet
WIOA/WIA eligibility requirements.)
In
addition, employers who hire and sponsor WIOA/WIA registered career
seekers for a DOLI Registered Apprenticeship training program, may
receive 50% wage reimbursement for an initial period of on-the-job
training through Peninsula Worklink’s On-the-Job Training (OJT)
Program.
Registered Apprenticeships offer valuable opportunities including:
§ Jobs that usually pay higher wages
§ Opportunity for advancement (Career pathways)
§ Nationally (and often, globally) recognized credentials
§ Opportunity for college credit and future degrees
§ On-the-job training with a competitive wage
