The San Fernando Valley Historical Society will host a free Memorial Day Observance from 11:00 a.m. to Noon on Monday, May 25, 2015 at the historic San Fernando Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in Sylmar. The hometown, heart-felt tribute to our nation’s heroes will recognize all military branches, and will culminate with the All Veteran’s Burial Squad performing a rifle salute and "Taps" to honor those who’ve perished in the name of freedom. There will be historical displays about some of the cemetery's buried, including five Civil War veterans and prominent local citizens.
