Working from home and under general supervision of the Collections Manager, this Collection Officer will be responsible for performing a wide variety of member Collections duties.

Some of the responsibilities of the job are;
Contacts member through various methods, telephone, letter, and email to determine reason for delinquency.
Negotiates and establishes repayment process or extension of credit with members.
Researches and analyzes data on past due loan accounts, non-sufficient return items and claims of fraudulent activity.
Researches account loan transactions to resolve payment errors.
Uses method of skip tracing to locate either member or property.
Responds to members’ inquiries, request and assist in completing documents.
Resolves member problems and/or complaints.
Assists members in viewing Credit Union repossessions at various locations.
Follows policies and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Identification Program (CIP) to ensure daily compliance with current regulations.
Recommends and prepares accounts for collateral seizure and foreclosure.
Recommends and prepares legal referrals such as wage garnishment, levies and abstracts.
Performs duties relating to death claims on loans.
Tracks collateral protection insurance ensuring member has complied with credit union requirements.
Tracks claims filed for credit disability and credit life insurance ensuring timely payment or payoffs for loan(s).
Researches and resolves credit-reporting disputes.

Some of the requirements of the job are;
A high school diploma or its equivalent, with minimum 3-year experience in the field or in a related area.
Participates in trainings and meetings in various locations.
Strong time management, communication and commitment skills.
Knowledge of English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as interest, dividends and percentages.
Ability to apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division concepts using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to listen effectively and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Ability to be organized, dependable and trustworthy.
Ability to be bonded.
