This position is in the Transportation Security Executive Service (TSES) and is located at the O'Hare International Airport (ORD) in Chicago, IL.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
You must possess U.S. Citizenship.
You must complete a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
You must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
You must pass Drug and Alcohol Screening, subject to random drug tests.
DUTIES:
The Deputy Federal Security Director is the second highest-ranking Transportation Security Administration (TSA) authority and one of TSA's highest-ranking officials. As the Federal Security Director's Deputy, you will be expected to assist him or her in leading a large, complex organization which is charged with planning, executing, and operating security services at the airport. Your responsibilities will include direction of a highly specialized workforce that includes baggage and passenger screeners, civil aviation security specialists, law enforcement officers, technical staff, and management support personnel. You will also assist the Federal Security Director in coordinating the airport actions of TSA with other Federal agencies in the deterrence and discovery of threats to intermodal transportation. You will deploy airport resources to conduct deterrence activities in order to efficiently and effectively enhance security and to detect and/or deter terrorist activity or other suspicious conditions for all modes of transportation to include rail, mass transit, and aviation.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To qualify for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the level of the work of this job that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required for successful performance. You would typically gain this experience by working within this field or a field of work that is closely related. Such experience includes managing programs related to corporate security, aviation security, force protection, law enforcement or equivalent security/law enforcement programs. This includes directing staff activities, managing within established staff levels and budgets, and providing leadership to a diverse workforce.
As a basic requirement, applicants must demonstrate progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior executive level managerial capability and directly related to the skills and abilities outlined in the "How You Will Be Evaluated" section of the Job Opportunity Announcement. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the equivalent of the GS-15 grade level in the Federal service or its equivalent with state and local government, the private sector, or non-governmental organizations. Failure to meet this basic qualification requirement and all executive and technical qualification factors automatically disqualifies an applicant.

DRUG TESTING:
You must pass a pre-employment drug test. In addition, you may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
This position requires a TS/SCI (Top Secret/Secured Compartmentalized Information) clearance that must be completed prior to appointment. You will be subject to a 5-year periodic investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
