Summary/Objective For Operations Manager Allentown PA Ex Military JobsThe transportation operations manager is responsible for supervising daily trucking operations across service areas for an assigned shift. The manager must coordinate and schedule cross dock and driver activities to accurately and efficiently process freight for delivery per customer requirements. Compliance with customer and government regulations for US Department of Transportation Hours of Service, HAZMAT, U.S. Customs, and the Transportation Safety Administration requirements. Clear and timely communication across the company and customer base is essential for success in this role.
Essential Functions For Operations Manager Allentown PA Ex Military Jobs1)Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles to achieve customer pickup and delivery requirements.
2)Plan, organize and manage the work of subordinate warehouse dock staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements. Organize dock activities for optimal freight movements.
3)Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
4)Serve as contact persons for all workers within assigned territories.
5)Implement schedule and policy changes.
6)Collaborate with other managers and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
7)Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
8)Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
9)Develop criteria, application instructions, and procedural manuals for key processes.
10)Direct and coordinate, through subordinates, activities of operations department in order to obtain use of equipment, facilities, and human resources.
11) Direct activities of staff performing repairs and maintenance to equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
12) Analyze expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits, optimizing costs and improving services.
13) Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property in order to increase efficiency and services of operations department.
14) Conduct employee training sessions on subjects such as hazardous material handling, employee orientation, quality improvement and computer use.
