Spotlight Speaker for 25 July 2018 will be: Captain Erin Stone , USN, JAG, USNA

Captain Erin Stone serves as Program Director for Engagement at the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), the nation’s largest and most influential military association dedicated to preserving the earned benefits of all members of the uniformed services and their families and survivors. In her engagement role, Ms. Stone develops relationships and organizational processes to enhance member value and to facilitate legislative action on the state and local level via MOAA Councils and Chapters. Passionate about helping people, she personally provides member value through the provision of advice and counsel to members and their spouses who are undertaking career transitions.

Ms. Stone previously served in the Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, retiring as a Captain after multiple high visibility leadership positions with broad organizational responsibility.  As Chief of Staff for criminal defense services in the Navy, she exercised worldwide management and oversight of administrative and human resource functions for over 200 criminal defense practitioners.  As a Commanding Officer, she supervised the provision of criminal defense and legal aid services for service members and their families and managed the associated resources in an area spanning the North Eastern United States, Europe, and Southwest Asia.  Over the course of her Navy career, Ms. Stone played a central role in the development, implementation, and advancement of strategic plans, objectives and policy guidance. 

Born and raised in Lockport, Illinois, Ms. Stone earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Operations Analysis) from the U.S. Naval Academy.  A member of the Virginia Bar, she received her Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center and her Masters in Law in Litigation and Dispute Resolution from the George Washington University. She resides in Annandale, Virginia, volunteers with Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

Captain Stone will speak to our BANG on the general topics of networking, outreach and her new MOAA engagement program.

Spotlight Speaker for 25 April 2018 will be: Graham Plaster. Graham is a Senior Policy Adviser within the Office of the Secretary of Defense where he serves as an expert in cultural training programs. He also serves as CEO of The Intelligence Community Inc. (www.TheIntelligenceCommunity.com) where he is moderating a nextgen trade association of over 100,000. Additionally, Graham oversees the  National Security professionals online (http://goo.gl/fPo45). Ever active, Mr. Plaster also serves as the Editor-in-Chief , Foreign Area Officer Association Journal of International Affairs (FAOJIA) . This peer reviewed journal of the Foreign Area Officer Association (FAOA) serves to bring together thought leadership in the fields of intelligence, security cooperation, foreign military sales, stability operations, peacekeeping, diplomacy and geopolitical advisory expertise for the US Department of Defense, US government stakeholders and allied governments. Additionally, Graham is a prolific writer and lists among his titles and articles  “In The Shadow of Greatness”, “Hacking The Job Search”, “ Using Social Media to Network and Curate Information”, “Digital Diplomacy”, “ The Arab Spring and Social Media”, and “ The Persian Blogging Phenomenon”.  Mr. Plaster is a 2002 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a BA in English and a 2009 graduate of Salve Regina University with a MA in Humanities. He will address the BANG regarding jobs and potential business expansion within the broader intelligence community.

Spotlight Speaker for 26 July 17 will be: Dr. J.T. Howard, Principal of JTH Coaching.  Dr. Howard partners with clients to develop successful career transition strategies.  He offers resume review, interview preparation, and competency assessment services.  Working in corporate and government environments for over 25 years, Dr. Howard has experience in career development, talent acquisition, mentoring, training and development and executive education.

Spotlight Speaker for 26 April 17 will be Patra Frame. Careers and career development – from entry to encore – have been a passion of Patra’s for years. She speaks regularly to local groups and national conferences on career development topics. She writes for Job-hunt.org as their Veteran’s Expert and for ClearedJobs.net on all aspects of job search. She has blogged for many years in a variety of publications on career growth, job search, and starting one’s own business. Patra ran large training and development programs for the USAF. Her Wharton MBA thesis was on career development issues of dual career couples. At GE, she oversaw their Key School initiative for MIT’s Sloan School and supported it at Wharton too. She has designed and implemented career development programs for a wide range of companies. Patra consistently studies and researches to remain at the forefront of career and job search issues. She is quoted regularly in publications. As a veteran, she has a special soft-spot for and has worked with transitioning military to help them focus on what they want to do next and how to find the right opportunity. Patra’s current book is entitled: Networking Guide for Military in Transition and Veterans - the Who, When, and What to Ask in building a network for success.
