Mil.Tree Presents - Joshua Tree, CA 92552

VETERANS RETREAT

Weaving our Stories: The Path Home, a veterans retreat, will be held from January 12th-January 14th in Joshua Tree, CA. During the retreat, Veterans, artists, and community elders will combine personal storytelling, myth, and tradition to find common ground. This retreat will be lead by Miguel Rivera, Elder Kim Marcus, Ben Dennis and Delores Mondragon. For more information on our facilitators please go to https://www.mil-tree.org/tapestries-of-transformation

This weekend long retreat will be an intimate and creative time with renown local storyteller Kim Marcus as he shares stories and rituals from the local Serrano and Cahuilla tribes who have called this home for countless generations. During our time together we will craft sacred objects such as a rattle or sacred arrow, as we participate in a variety of creative and meaningful activities. During the weekend retreat, each participant will also be invited to draw from their own life experience and imagination to share their own stories with our group. We will then consider how our individual efforts are connected as part of a larger tapestry; one of community, experience and creativity.

The goal is to hear, see, feel, and embrace the interconnectedness between each of us. We seek to recognize the importance of each story as an integral part of the larger community, and to be recognized by the community. We will then work to combine these efforts to understand our common journey as a people and to honor each individual journey as vital to establishing a shared home in this world.

Wreaths of America - 12/16/24

Place Wreaths

Saturday, December 16th

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 4,000+ locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. Anyone who wants to offer a small gesture of gratitude for the freedoms Americans enjoy can volunteer at a wreath laying ceremony to assist in saying veteran names aloud and thanking them for their service.

When you volunteer at a cemetery near you on National Wreaths Across America Day, you’ll play a valuable role by placing live, balsam veterans' wreaths on the headstones of our fallen heroes. For centuries, fresh evergreens have been used as a symbol of honor and have served as a living tribute renewed annually. Wreaths Across America believes the tradition represents a living memorial that honors veterans, active-duty military, and their families. When each wreath is placed the servicemember's name is said out loud, ensuring their memory lives on.

Military-Civilian Testimonials 10/23/23 Job Sharing

Good morning Ms. Jensen,,br>
My name is Kevin Vincent and I am the Community Employment Coordinator (CEC) here at James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa. Your name and information was passed onto me for review. I work with our Disabled Veterans here at the VA in trying them competitive employment in their local communities.

I would like to be added to your weekly/monthly emails if possible? Or whatever list is that you might distribute out with your openings.

We/I have Veterans that we work with all over the state that are in need of employment and I think that your company could help us in finding employment for our Veterans.

Please let me know if you have any questions that I might be able to answer. I look forward t working with you in putting our Veterans to work.

Have a great day.

Thank you,

Kevin
