USAF - Retired military working dogs
The U.S Air Force officials at Joint base San Antonio Lackland are becoming increasingly worried about their retired K9 partners not being able to find loving homes. These dogs have worked all of their lives protecting our troops and you and I -the nation and homeland security - as such, the USAF is pleading with citizens to assist.
There are certain requirements that must be met by the proposed person(s) adopting - FOR INFORMATION go to:
MWD.adoptions@us.af.mil or call (210)671-6766
ALSO - REMEMBER - at K9 Companions inc. (951)780-5810 they have a full trained Doberman Pincer Service K9 that NEEDS ADOPTION NOW!!!!!!!!
You all have a great and safe New Years AND REMEMBER
"as you go through life whatever be your goal, keep your eye on the doughnut and NOT on the hole". I have no idea what that mean, BUT a gentlemen who was a Medal of Honor recepient from World War II gave me a coffee cup with that saying when I was younger - AND - for some reason it just stuck with me

What is the difference between an assistance dog and a service dog?
An assistance dog is a generic term for a guide, hearing, or service dog that is specifically trained to perform at least one task to mitigate the effects of an individual’s disability. The presence of a dog for protection, personal defense, or comfort does not qualify a dog as an assistance dog. A service dog is a dog is trained to perform tasks for individuals with disabilities other than blindness or deafness.
What is the difference between an assistance dog, emotional support dog, and therapy dog?
An assistance dog is a generic term for a guide, hearing, or service dog that is specifically trained to perform at least one task to mitigate the effects of an individual’s disability. The presence of a dog for protection, personal defense, or comfort does not qualify a dog as an assistance dog. Assistance dogs are covered under the American Disability Act (ADA) and do have public access rights when working with their disabled handler.
An emotional support dog is a dog that provides only emotional support to an individual with a mental health condition or emotional disorder. An emotional support dog is a companion animal that by the presence of the dog provides comfort to an individual with a disability. The emotional support dog does not perform tasks to mitigate a person’s disability. Emotional support dogs are not covered under the American Disability Act (ADA) and therefore do not have the same public access rights as an assistance dog and its handler.
A therapy dog is trained to provide affection, comfort, and love to many people in many different settings. Therapy dogs are not covered under the American Disability Act (ADA), and therefore do not have the same public access rights as an assistance dog and its handler.

Does military experience crosses over to college credits for veterans and where can someone find this information. Below is information and the link where all this can be found. The registration process on the JST website takes about 10 minutes and then the veteran should have access to their JST transcripts which will show the different trainings that the veteran received in the military and how many college credits is transferable to civilian education. Let me know if any veterans have questions. Website for JST: https://jst.doded.mil/jst/
What are Joinst Service Transcripts (JST)?
JST is the Joint Services Transcript that has replaced the Coast Guard Institute Transcript, the Army/American Council on Education Registry Transcript System (AARTS) and the Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript (SMART). JST is an academically accepted document approved by the American Council on Education (ACE) to validate a service members military occupational experience and training along with the corresponding ACE college credit recommendations.
Eligibility
All enlisted, officers and warrant officers, both active and veterans from all Army components, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy. Note that JST receives its data from underlying Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy personnel systems. Air Force personnel should contact CCAF to receive transcripts (URL: www.au.af.mil/au/ccaf/transcripts.asp).
Benefit of JST Transcripts
It provides a description of military schooling and work history in civilian language. It serves as a counseling tool for academic and career counselors in advising service members and veterans. It serves as an aid in preparing resumes and explaining Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard and Navy work experience to civilian employers. It also saves time and money by awarding academic credits, which means less tuition to pay and less time spent in the classroom.
