JMAC-JT Deer Farm

A Christian-owned deer farm/hunt ranch for Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans
Healing Warriors’ Hearts, Minds and Souls
Psalm 91

Here at JMAC-JT Deer Farm we are a 501(c) 3 Non Profit group for Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans. We are looking for yearly sponsorships and grants from some of the larger companies and the smaller ones that wish to assist. We are not just looking for financial backers but also those that can assist us in getting set up with some of the specialized equipment that we will require. I know that there are several hundred personnel out there that have served, are serving or know someone that is. I would also be willing to say that half of those know someone that could benefit from an organization such as ours. We are not limiting ourselves to those with missing limbs; we also want to help those that have TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and those that are just trying to get their lives back together. Whether it be by those wishing to strengthen their marriages, rebuilding their lives whatever the need be. We will also be offering Animal Therapy for those that do not want to hunt; this will also be available to those that are not able to do the Wilderness Therapy due to physical limitations.  We will however let these individuals decide what their limits are.

We are a Wounded Warrior project that not only offers hunting for that trophy of a life time but counseling, wilderness therapy, and animal therapy for those that do not wish to hunt. Our goal is to assist in the healing of the wounded warriors and disabled veterans of America totally free of charge.
For the Wounded Warrior and Disabled Veteran these services would be free of charge do to the donations and contributions that are and have been made.  We have a desire to repair the damage that the longest running war our country has ever been in has done to them.  Some of these heroes have been mobilized multiple times some without receiving help from the first time.   PTSD is not a disorder that shows its ugly head the first time all the time and it is not something that you come home with and say hey I have PTSD.  This disorder takes time sometimes months for the right trigger to set it off.  It can also be a very short time when it is recognized.  Left untreated it will do nothing but build and tear families a part. We want to keep these families together just as God wants for them to have a long and happy life together.

In Psalms 91:1 it says that:
Those that live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
We want to give them this rest with both Traditional Counseling and Faith Based Counseling.  This is why the project name for JMAC-JT Deer Farm is Titled Psalms 91 Healing Warrior Hearts Minds and Souls in the project we use the whole Psalms 91: 1-16 it is known as the WARRIORS PSALMS

I would like to ask you to look at our website and follow us on Facebook as well. The website address is www.jmac-jtdeerfarm.org

We thank you for your consideration of our request. We will be pleased to provide additional information and further look forward to the opportunity to speak or meet with you. You may contact Jay Sanders, President at 301-535-9850 or jay@jmac-jtdeerfarm.org

Wounded Warrior Project Warriors to Work

Continue Serving Your Country: Earn an MSW Degree

As a member of the military community, you are in a unique position to help other military personnel and their families cope with the stresses of deployment and the return to civilian life. You may already know service members who suffer from post-traumatic stress, anxiety and depression or have seen up close how these conditions can lead to substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse and suicide. You may know widows or widowers who are grieving while trying to raise a family without the support of their partner.

Social workers all over the country help veterans and service members recover from the stresses of war. Most licensed social workers don’t have the particular vantage point of having lived in a military culture — but you do. Since you’ve been there, you can be helpful in treating the challenges that military personnel and their families face.

It sometimes seems that the most common problems of service members differ very little from the problems of civilians. Yet service members often have added complications. For example, many worry about being seen in counselors’ halls and waiting rooms, and about being consequently judged. They worry about confidentiality. They long for privacy, yet have doubts that their insurance can protect them. Some believe that no matter what the organization, if it’s affiliated with the armed forces, their records could easily be shared with other branches and departments. Civilians may have similar feelings, but service members sometimes carry with them an even greater shame of being perceived as flawed or weak in some way.
Service members also often report frustration with the amount of red tape associated with accessing services. When the emotional and behavioral problems become too great, they may reach out to the mental health services of their military insurance plans. However, they often report uneven quality of services, problems with continuity of care, restrictions on the number of mental health sessions or lack of freedom to pursue the options they deem best. Service members and their families deserve a high quality of care by virtue of their service and sacrifice. This is where you can truly make a difference.

The USC School of Social Work offers a highly respected master’s degree program in social work with a military specialization. The military sub-concentration includes coursework on understanding military culture; facilitating service members dealing with a range of physical, mental and psychosocial issues; and exploring the impact of military service on families — and is available to both on-campus and online students. And with our web-based MSW@USC option, you can study from anywhere, confident that military relocations will not interfere with your education.

Learn more about earning your MSW online, or visit the USC School of Social Work website for information about our Southern California locations.

Military Caregivers Making a Difference

QUANTICO, Va. – Countless parents, spouses and children of wounded, ill or injured Marines have willingly taken on the title of “caregiver.” For Virginia Long and Jamie Pope supporting our nations wounded, ill and injured Marines is a twofold process. While they function as loving caregivers to their spouses, they also serve as Recovery Care Coordinator’s at the United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment.

In the aftermath of a wound or injury or the notification of an illness, a Marine and family may be disoriented and unsure of the resources available to support them through their recovery. A Recovery Care Coordinator or RCC is one of the first non-medical points of contact a wounded, ill or injured Marine and their family will have with the support network that will ensure a smooth transition either back to full duty, or to the civilian community. They help Marines navigate from the point of injury until their end of active service or return to duty.

“Being a RCC allows me to take my experience as a caregiver for my husband and use it to better the Marines and families who are currently here,” said Pope. “I get to serve as a living example and I can say it will get stressful but you will get better.”

To eliminate some of the stresses of being a caregiver, RCC’s have their Marines and families develop a Comprehensive Recovery Plan (CRP). Simply stated, the CRP is a Marine’s roadmap. It’s a forward looking document that captures a Marine’s and family’s needs, translates those into concrete goals and then provides specific, actionable steps to meet those goals. One of the hallmarks of the CRP is that a resource is provided for each of these steps so the Marine always knows who assists with each particular action.

Examples include linking caregivers up with resources to assist them with counseling support, benefits and entitlements, financial preparedness, employment, transition, childcare and even organizations that provide adaptive modifications to homes, wheelchairs and vehicles.

“A lot of people take for granted transportation,” said Long. Due to her husband’s injury, he cannot always drive.  “In 2007, while operating as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician in Karma, Iraq my husband’s mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle was hit by an IED and launched approximately 30 feet into the air.  The vehicle landed on the driver’s side where my husband was sitting,” said Long.

Resources such as the Battalion’s family readiness officer and the VA Caregiver Program are among the many organizations and programs that assisted Long and Pope. All caregivers have access to these resources and more through their RCC.

Caregivers continue to serve as dedicated advocates for their Marines throughout their recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration. Pope’s advice to new caregivers is to “take it one day at a time and be patient with the doctors and your service member. Don’t be afraid to advocate for your service member. If something is not getting done, go to someone else.”

Care for Marines assigned an RCC does not stop at transition. For Marines who move to veteran status and require continued transition support, RCCs will coordinate the transfer of their case to the Wounded Warrior Regiment’s District Injured Support Cells (DISCs) or to Non-medical Care Managers who will provide continued support until the Marine and family have successfully transitioned and no longer need one-on-one care coordination. The Marine Corps established the RCC program through the Wounded Warrior Regiment in the fall of 2009 in accordance with federal law and Department of Defense instruction. Currently, there are 49 RCCs located across the country in support of wounded, ill, and injured Marines and their families.

Established in 2007, the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment was created to provide and facilitate non-medical care to combat and non-combat wounded, ill, and injured Marines, and sailors attached to or in direct support of Marine units and their family members in order to assist them as they return to duty or transition to civilian life. The Regimental Headquarters element, located in Quantico, Va., commands the operations of two Wounded Warrior Battalions located at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Camp Lejeune, N.C., and multiple detachments in locations around the globe.
