City Of Houston Office of Veteran’s Affair
Mayor Parker has a heightened concern for our returning troops over the 21% unemployment rate they are experiencing. As such she directed me to work with the City's special events office to host a veterans job fair in conjunction with the November 11th Veteran's Day ceremony and parade at City Hall. The job fair is being sponsored by AT&T to reduce costs for companies willing to come to the event. Tents will be set up around the reflecting pond and expanded into Tranquility Park as needed.

PMG is seeking Environmental Recycling Specialists to join their consulting staff in Afghanistan.
Duties Include:
Provide technical guidance and expertise to the regional commanders and base mayors for the management of a full range of waste products coming from bases throughout the Afghanistan. The primary focus will be on initiating, improving, and finding innovative solutions for recycling, reusing, reducing materials in the waste stream. There is a great need to develop or invigorate viable markets in the local communities for raw commodities (recycled goods) coming from the bases.
Review the solid waste stream and the local markets to develop strategies for materials utilization. There are several funding sources that could be applied to support local entrepreneurs.
Improve the solid waste management processes on the base.
Coordinate waste management programs with the local commander, LOGCAP service provider, local contractors and others in order to develop an integrated system that is beneficial to all parties.
Investigate new technologies related to waste management (e.g., composting, land farming, recycling, and water treatment) and methods to reduce the amount of material being burned or incinerated, dumped somewhere, or leaving the country as a hazardous material (HAZMAT).
Identify funding sources and methods to implement the USFOR-A integrated waste management strategy within the area of responsibility. Assist in the preparation of funding and other support documents as required (e.g., JARB packages, budgets, MIPRs, PR&Cs) to purchase additional equipment and the incorporation of new technologies or the development of appropriate environmental projects.
Conduct limited training in conjunction with the mayor and base needs on environmental policies and procedures and methodologies.
Assess the current policy standards to include the USFOR-A Environmental SOP and how it applies to the bases within the area. Provide recommendations to bring environmental practices into compliance with USFOR-A Environmental SOP and other regulations used in theater. Provide recommendations on improvements to the USFOR-A Environmental SOP.
Deliverables: Reports, database spreadsheets, power point presentations or other formats that depict the information needed on recycling, new issues, technologies, and the like for the bases within their area of responsibility.
Policy Standards: USFOR-A Environmental SOP and CCR 200-2.
Typical duty hours per day: 10
Duty day should not exceed: 12 hours
Typical total Hours per week: 70
Required education and job skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Science or Engineering, earth or Biological Engineering or Sciences.
At least five years relevant experience (Experience in solid waste/hazardous waste management and recycling desired. Experience in domestic waste-water beneficial.)
Have or be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance.
Possess computer skills with strong working knowledge of MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, and Power Point).
Strong communications skills both verbal and written.
Motivated self starter with demonstrated ability to apply skills to projects.
Good organizational and intra-personnel skills.
Demonstrated ability to carry out independent work.
Highly preferred:

TECHNICAL MECHANIC INSTRUCTOR
CSMI is actively seeking interested mechanical trainers to participate in a vehicle maintenance training program in Afghanistan. This recruitment effort is in anticipation of a contract award with a tentative award to be announced in mid October.
The Technical Mechanic Instructor is primarily responsible for maintenance instruction to Afghan personnel as part of a Mobile Training Team and in Static Facilities.
The curriculum facilitated by the Technical Mechanic Instructor involves levels of training from basic maintenance level, apprentice level through craftsman level focused on achieving proficiency on complex elements of supply procedures and parts requisitioning, HAZMAT, recovery operations, mechanical maintenance, sustainment and repair of tactical and non-tactical vehicles. This instructor uses a variety of materials to measure the level of new students and to gauge understanding of instructional tasks. Instructors should be knowledgeable in instructional techniques and tasks that include the following subject areas: Troubleshooting, maintenance and/or replacement of brake actuators, batteries, starter motors, alternators, mechanical fuel pumps, hydraulic cylinders/pumps/control valves, drive shafts, universal joints, service brake shoes, disc-brake pads, water pumps, turbochargers, cylinder heads, high-pressure fuel injection pumps, wheel bearings/seals, steering unit torquelink, and road wheels. Adjustment of engine speed governor/valves, carburetors, boom-hoist brakes/ clutches, dry-disc clutches, steering brakes, track tension/assemblies, fuel injector racks, and steering unit brake levers. Charges suspension accumulators, transmission shift accumulators, and main hydraulic accumulators. Troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of engines, final drives, power trains, hydraulic systems, and fuel system components.
Performs troubleshooting of engines, power trains, fuel and electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic equipment. Prefer US Army MOS 63 series however equivalent experience will be considered. This is a position will require in country travel and has a physical rating of heavy. Must be able to walk, kneel, bend and stoop, and have correctable vision. Only those willing to work and live under these conditions should apply. U.S. passport required. Must pass a physical exam due to the harsh living and working conditions. Must have demonstrated experience maintaining heavy military vehicles and Non Tactical Vehicles. Once the 2-3 month training is complete, this is a graveyard shift position (11pm – 7am). This position is based in Chatsworth, CA.
General Purpose of the Position: Delivers world class customer service to Capstone’s Authorized Service Providers and end-use customers by telephonically providing them with troubleshooting service and resolution to problems as they are reported through the Company’s Call Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide technical support of trouble issues with Capstone MicroTurbine(s) to support Capstone Authorized Service Providers (ASP) and other external and internal customers.
· Follow call center scripts, interacts with customers of various technical abilities.

The successful candidate must have a basic understanding of gas turbine engine technology and possess a working knowledge of AC/DC, low & high voltage systems with the ability to provide onsite field service support for Capstone’s world-wide customers. The candidate should also have hands-on, working knowledge of how to use electrical test equipment. Two-five years prior field service or military experience and/or bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably electronics or electromechanical controls is highly desired. Prior experience with testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and/or repairing equipment in an electrical or gas turbine environment is required. Bilingual candidates, with a preference toward Spanish, are ideal. The candidate must also have the ability to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes with little notice.

6. Follow Company policy in completing Task Based Risk Assessment, to Permit to Work System and Log Out/Tag Out procedures.
7. Participate in Company sponsored safety initiatives and perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
8. Observe, report and take action to correct any unsafe conditions, equipment failures or any other faults that could result in injury to personnel, work stoppage, environmental events or damage to the drilling unit.
9. Knowledge emergency duties and participate in safety drills as required.
10. Complete training for matrix position.

Perform as the Business Developer for Logistics. Assist in strategy, communications, marketing and leadership.
Act as key interface with US government, military service logistics functions, other international logistics functions, other multinational prime contractors.
Attend key meetings in Kabul to include industry discussions and other International contracting forums.
Assist in proposal writing, estimates and coordination with PMG and other US agents.
Assist the CEO of Afghan firm in understanding multinational processes and formulate constructive strategies to increase revenue and quality.

Positions Include:
Driver System Operator (DSOs) – Qualified to perform fuel servicing operations (refuel/defuel operations) by mobile fuel servicing equipment/trucks, truck supplied pantograph and hoses sets, and fixed direct fuel servicing systems.
Motor Vehicle Mechanic (MVM) – Capable of performing truck chassis and drive-train, cargo tank, fuel pump/filter systems, and component diagnostics, adjustments, maintenance, and repair.
Fuel Distribution Systems Operator (FDSO) – Experienced in fuel distribution systems to include, pipeline systems, storage tanks, pumps, valves, fuel monitors and filters, truck fill stands, and service station facilities (manual and automated).
Fuel Distribution Mechanic (FDSM) – Must have five years experience in the maintenance of fuel distribution systems ranging from ground product service stations to large bulk distribution facilities.
Fuel Laboratory Technician (FLT) – Experienced in the use of fuel sampling equipment, aviation and ground fuel sampling procedures, and conducting laboratory test of petroleum products.
