SALARY: $12.50/HRLY. (5% increase upon successful completion of 6-month probation.
4:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Tues. Wed. Thur.); 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Sun. & Mon.)

DUTIES:
The Assistant Cook will be responsible for assisting the Chief Cook in the day to day preparation of food and efficient running of the kitchen for the Residential Center for Veterans. This person will oversee the preparation, when the Center is at capacity, of up to 330 meals per day and substitutes for the Chief Cook in her/his absence. This would be approximately 110 meals, three meals per day. Requires knowledge and ability to apply Department of Health, V.A., and AGIF-NVOP standards and regulations, skill in quantity food preparation and portion control with minimum waste, Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and the oversee work of residents performing chores in the kitchen area, to read and write effectively, Ability to work under pressure while maintaining effective and accurate performance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
This position requires at least a high school diploma or a GED. The candidate should have at least 5 years of related experience. Appropriate experience may be substituted for educational requirements. The candidate must be able to speak and write English. The candidate must have no criminal record.  The applicant must be able to pass a background check, drug test, driving record check, must have a valid Texas driver’s license and have appropriate auto liability insurance.
