If selected for this position, you will serve as the Deputy Director responsible for vetting transportation workers and passengers in order to mitigate threats to the Transportation sector. You will also be responsible for analyzing the vetting data from across the covered populations to identify trends and patterns. You will assist the Director in directing and managing over 300 employees located in five subordinate branches for a 24 hour/7 day a week operation. Typical assignments will include but are not limited to: •Ensuring the development and deployment of vetting processes to support OIA operational needs and functional capabilities. •Vetting and identifying individuals who pose a threat to the transportation system by virtue of their terrorism nexus, criminality, or immigration status. •Maintaining operational and situational awareness, and escalating vulnerabilities to leadership. Ensuring notification to TSA leadership of imminent threats, and briefing the situation and potential implications to the management chain. •Reviewing privacy programs, periodically planning and enacting adjustments in response to compliance reviews, and developing and implementing quality assurance protocols. •Providing operational requirements and prerequisites for transitioning future developments and improvements into ongoing operations. Supervisory/managerial duties include serving as a first or second level supervisor typically over more than one unit/project/program within a major subdivision; planning both routine and complex work to be accomplished, assigning work, setting priorities and reviewing and evaluating work and performance of subordinates; coaching and developing employees; approving leave; taking, recommending or approving disciplinary actions; managing budget and assigned resources, human resources, and applicable administrative policies and processes; resolving problems independently and recommending new policies and procedures that impact the objectives of the unit(s) managed as well as internal and external customers. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: To qualify for the SV-K Pay Band (equivalent to GS-15), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-J Pay Band or GS-14 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of such experience include applying security policies, laws, regulations, and programs in managing the work involved in vetting transportation workers and passengers and to develop and implement transportation security programs; interpreting and evaluating vetting analysis and intelligence to determine future threats. NOTE: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience.
