Currently ECSM is seeking qualified applicants to fill the following positions throughout the Northeast:
Plant Telephony Engineers are needed in NY (1), PA (5), OH (5), KY
In New York and Pennsylvania we target State College, Pittsburg, Erie, Harrisburg, and Carlisle for these 6 positions along with eastern Ohio.
In Ohio we target Cleveland, Akron/Canton areas for the central and northern portions of Ohio and Columbus, Chillicothe, and Huntington, WV for the lower portions of Ohio.
Basic Function
Responsible for providing the planning, analysis, and recommendations in support of new construction of outside plant network structures and facilities, including digital loop carrier systems and technology.
Responsibilities:
1. OSP Engineering of all aspects of Outside Plant including:
a. Pole Line Design.
b. Fiber Cable Design.
c. Aerial Cable Design.
d. Buried Cable Design.
e. Underground Cable Design.
f. Underground Conduit and Manhole Design.
2. Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code, Bell System and or General System Practices pertaining to OSP Design.
3. Knowledge of standard telephone symbology required on OSP construction drawings.
4.Working Knowledge of telephone transmission design principles including:
a. Subscriber Transmission Design (loading systems).
b. XDSL Circuit Design (ADSL, HDSL 2 & 4 wire).
c. T-1 Span Line Design.
d. Various Pair Gain System Design.
5. Understands and is able to perform the following:
a. Proper Cable Count Distribution.
b. Ready Access and proper multiplying of cable distribution plant.
c. Feeder plant design.
d. Splicing Sequencing and Sequence sheets.
e. Cable throws.
f. Location Designations
6. Able to take accurate, complete and neat field notes using computer generated (field view/map view) drawings.
7. A good understanding of and able to coordinate the acquisition of Rights – of – way, permits, and state highway permit as required for the construction of Outside Plant.
8. Customer Management: Able to effectively work with all levels of customer management in the coordination of all engineered activities.
9. Performs CAD work as dictated by customer needs. A good understanding of EWO, TAD, Fireworks/Bidmaster, CAD, Micro Station and or IDDS is desirable.
10. Performs costing work as dictated by the customer. A good understanding of construction units, Job Trac, and or Fireworks is desirable.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
