PURPOSE/BASIC FUNCTION
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of staff involved in developing procedures, equipment, and techniques to find solutions for ASR/Propat® use, perform engineering services related to dredge project, and perform feasibility study for sighting potential landfill for JV use.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
1. Direct and manage project development from beginning to end. Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
2. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
3. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
4. Review technical aspects of project to assist co-workers and assess productivity of lines of research.
5. Review project operations to ensure coordination of efforts and timely submission of reports.
6. Analyze reports to evaluate program effectiveness and budgetary needs.
7. Confer with local regulatory agencies to discover local environmental quality standards, industrial practices, and new developments in pollution abatement.
8. Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
9. Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle.
10. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
11. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
12. Plan, schedule and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools provided. Submit to designated management team weekly.
13. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and
troubleshoot problem areas.
14. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential delays, and devise contingency plans.
15. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
16. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
17. Develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
18. Conduct project post audit and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
19. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
20. The employee may be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; ability to: life and carry up to 10 lbs. occasionally: sit for up to 6-8 hours per day; read for several hours per day; write and/or do data entry for up to 3-5 hours per day; handle and review files and documents; be mobile within the office environment, production areas, outdoor construction areas exposed to cyclical weather extremes, offsite areas (landfills, dock areas, waterborne vessel etc.); be able to travel via car to offsite areas as well as moving around these offsite areas; communicate by speech, memos, and documents and operating a personal computer. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job; work environment is general office surroundings, various scrap yard areas, dock areas, customer and vendor sites, active construction sites and other offsite areas related to the job. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
Education:
University degree or college diploma in the field of Mechanical, Structural or Industrial Engineering
Experience/Skills:
1. Employee must be conscientious in practicing safe operating conditions in the plant and other worksites at all times.
2. Must have the technical knowledge to come up with solutions in response to project delays or interruptions and innovative methods to keep projects within time and budget considerations.
3. Be able to work with little or no supervision.
4. Be able to keep regular and timely records; use computer skills to do spreadsheets, reports, etc.
5. 10 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including aspects of process development and execution.
6. Database and operating systems experience with MS Office, MS Project and similar
7. Competent and proficient understanding of platforms, such as AutoCAD and Solid Works
8. Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including data file sharing and storing/FTP site usage
9. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
10. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
11. Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
12. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
13. Strong written and oral communication skills.
14. Strong interpersonal skills.
15. Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
16. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
17. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
