PLEASE
HELP US PASS THE WORD!
The City of Tampa Mayor’s Alliance for Persons with
Disabilities is planning a job fair for veterans and persons with disabilities
in January, 2015 from 10 am to 1 pm. The
event will be held in an accessible venue. Applicants will be invited to submit
their resumes several weeks in advance for review and feedback. Applicants will also be offered a job seeking skills
training session that day from 9 am - 10 am. All services are free of charge
for the applicants. The employers will be offered training in reasonable
accommodations and modifications several weeks prior to the job fair.
There are new affirmative action rules for federal
contractors and subcontractors doing $10,000 worth or more of business with the
federal government. These rules
establish goals of seven percent (7%) of their employees being persons with
disabilities and eight percent (8%) for veterans. For more information, go to http://www.dol.gov/ofccp/regs/compliance/faqs/VEVRAA_faq.htm
for veterans and to http://www.dol.gov/ofccp/regs/compliance/faqs/503_faq.htm
for persons with disabilities.
We are seeking your help in getting the word out to veterans
and persons with disabilities so that they can participate in this job fair. We
would greatly appreciate it if you could please forward this email to persons
in your organization and to others who can invite persons with disabilities and
veterans to attend this event. Please have them contact Karen Sinnreich at
813-307-5595 or karen.sinnreich@tampagov.net
so we may keep them informed. Thank you.
