Spotlight Speaker for 25 July 2018 will be: Captain Erin Stone , USN, JAG, USNA

Captain Erin Stone serves as Program Director for Engagement at the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), the nation’s largest and most influential military association dedicated to preserving the earned benefits of all members of the uniformed services and their families and survivors. In her engagement role, Ms. Stone develops relationships and organizational processes to enhance member value and to facilitate legislative action on the state and local level via MOAA Councils and Chapters. Passionate about helping people, she personally provides member value through the provision of advice and counsel to members and their spouses who are undertaking career transitions.

Ms. Stone previously served in the Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, retiring as a Captain after multiple high visibility leadership positions with broad organizational responsibility.  As Chief of Staff for criminal defense services in the Navy, she exercised worldwide management and oversight of administrative and human resource functions for over 200 criminal defense practitioners.  As a Commanding Officer, she supervised the provision of criminal defense and legal aid services for service members and their families and managed the associated resources in an area spanning the North Eastern United States, Europe, and Southwest Asia.  Over the course of her Navy career, Ms. Stone played a central role in the development, implementation, and advancement of strategic plans, objectives and policy guidance. 

Born and raised in Lockport, Illinois, Ms. Stone earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Operations Analysis) from the U.S. Naval Academy.  A member of the Virginia Bar, she received her Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center and her Masters in Law in Litigation and Dispute Resolution from the George Washington University. She resides in Annandale, Virginia, volunteers with Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

Captain Stone will speak to our BANG on the general topics of networking, outreach and her new MOAA engagement program.
     
Directions to the Clark House (http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/hprs/clarkhouse.htm ) the historic Clark House is adjacent to the Barcroft Plaza Shopping Center on Columbia Pike at the intersection with Lincolnia Road and Old Columbia Pike. Look for Harris Teeter and Starbucks in the shopping center on the corner at the traffic light. Upon entering the Barcroft Plaza Shopping Center stay on service road to east end of parking area. The Clark House is located at the entrance to a townhouse complex.
