Job Description for Occupational Medicine Physician Locum Tenens
SCOPE:
Comprehensive Health Services, Inc. (CHSi) is seeking a Per Diem Locum Tenens physician duly licensed to practice in the State of California. The physician shall provide onsite services on agreed upon scheduled date(s) of any onsite event. Schedules are currently one (1) day a month on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, with an occasional second consecutive day. This position reports to the CHSi Chief Medical Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS for Occupational Medicine Physician Locum Tenens:
Unrestricted Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) California Medical License. Strong clinical background required with ability to interpret and clarify personal and work related medical histories, perform physical exams, and interpret basic diagnostic testing such as visual acuity, basic lab studies, audiograms, spirometry, and electrocardiograms. Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and work as a team member with nurses, other health professionals, and administrative support staff. At least five years of clinical occupational medicine or primary care practice experience, and board certification in Occupational Medicine or a primary care specialty (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine) is required. DOT National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners certification required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for Occupational Medicine Physician Locum Tenens:
Performs medical surveillance and fitness for duty exams including review and clarification of medical history, physical exam, review and interpretation of diagnostic studies, and completion of required forms.
Ensures accurate, reliable and well-documented exams allowing CHSi corporate medical review team nurses and physicians to make medical determinations and fitness for duty decisions for clients based on job demands, client’s medical standards, and regulatory compliance including OSHA and DOT FMCSA.
Provides medical services and/or medical consultation within the scope of practice and physician’s license in support of company requirements.
Performs occupational health surveillance examinations and makes medical qualification recommendations for the occupational health examination program consistent with client guidelines.
Provides consultation and medical opinion on fitness for duty, health-related issues and policies to our medical review nurses, physicians and Chief Medical Officer.
Consistently exercises exceptional attention to detail in the review of medical histories and examination results.
Thoroughly applies contractual and regulatory guidelines and interprets nuances of exam results to provide quality medical fitness recommendations to CHSi exam management team.
Represents CHSi core values (Graciousness, Responsiveness, Integrity, Teamwork, & Transparency) with attention to customer satisfaction, best practices, health and safety, and contractual and regulatory compliance.
Collaborates well as team member with other staff (CHSi and Client Program Managers, Doctors, Review Nurses, Client Service Administrators, etc.) to document and communicate exam results.
Participates in process improvement reviews on protocols, policies, objectives, and program operations.

Performs duties in a safe manner.  Follows the corporate safety policy.
Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals.
Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
Encourages co-workers to work safely.  Identifies “close calls” and/or safety concerns to Supervisory personnel.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS for Occupational Medicine Physician Locum Tenens:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.  Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs. Good eye/hand coordination required.
