KEY REQUIREMENTS:
•You must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National.
•You must complete a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
•You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Overtime may be required at various times of the year.
•You may be required to travel overnight occasionally.

DUTIES:
This Accountant position is located in the Property, Plant, and Equipment Accounting Branch, Financial Management Division, within the Office of Finance and Administration (CFO), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). If selected for this position, you will coordinate with TSA's accounting service provider to resolve day-to-day property accounting issues and ensuring that accounting services performed on TSA’s behalf comply with Federal standards and TSA-unique requirements. Duties will include:
•Ensuring balances reported in the Sunflower Asset Management System and fixed assets subsidiary ledger are fully reconciled to the balances reported in the general ledger, to include internal use software and property, plant, and equipment on a monthly basis and any identified differences are resolved.
•Ensuring that TSA's accounting transactions for property, plant, and equipment are processed in accordance with the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL).
•Working with the Financial Systems Branch to ensure that Federal Accounting Standards are adhered to within the General Ledger and related subsidiary systems.
•Reviewing legislation, rules, regulations, and Departmental guidelines for impact on TSA’s accounting and reporting for property, plant, and equipment.
•Monitoring business processes and accounting entries related to acquisition of new property, plant, and equipment ensuring that asset acquisitions are recorded timely and accurately.
•Monitoring accounting entries related to depreciation of property, plant, and equipment; ensuring that depreciation is recorded in accordance with Federal Accounting Standards.
•Adjusting the useful life (accounting depreciation period) of assets in accordance with TSA operational program personnel.
•Monitoring business processes and accounting entries related to retirement, relocation, impairment, and deferred maintenance of property, plant, and equipment ensuring that appropriate entries are made in the general ledger or related feeder systems to capture the financial impact of these events.
The major duties described above reflect the full performance level of this position. Typically, the lower pay band (G Band) performs the same duties but will receive more guidance and training; and/or projects/work assignments may be less complex.
