Cyber Security Training

Cyber Security Training – Why TEEX?

As public and private jurisdictions rely more heavily on computer systems and digital domains for their daily operations, the threat that Cyber Security poses is greater than ever for the security of information and enterprises as a whole. As a result, skilled individuals who are able to uphold the security of information systems will play an important role in the future of these enterprise operations.

The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Grant Funded Cyber Security courses can provide you with the skills needed to make the most of new opportunities in this emerging field.

Develop Your Skillset
These courses are available at no cost.  Ten courses are offered through three specific tracks for the non-technical computer users, business managers/professionals, and technical Information Technology (IT) professionals. The General/Non-Technical Track addresses the basic principles and practices that computer users need to keep themselves safe at work and at home. Additionally, it includes the ethical and legal practices affecting all computer users. The Managers and Business Professionals Track provides training in implementation and management of a business information continuity plan, assessment and mitigation of cyber vulnerabilities, and incident response and analysis. The Technical/IT Professional Track is intended for students with technical knowledge of computers, operating systems and networks. These courses train users to secure computers, applications, and networks.  Training in the basics of digital forensics is also provided.
Throughout these courses, you'll learn about relevant concepts and practices that are used to maintain security and fight off the threat of cyber-crime.  You'll study the role of computer security incident response, cyber forensic investigations, and how these roles need to be managed and organized in order to effectively provide their services in your enterprise.
