- Middletown Vet Center 40th Anniversary Open House!- The Middletown Vet Center will be holding an open house on June 18. 2019 from 10am to 4pm to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Vet Center program. 

- Vets2Vets Military Appreciation Day- May 24th 11-2pm Brentwood VFW Post. Free vaccines, micro chipping, and other assistance for dogs of veterans.

- Hudson Valley Honor Flight Benefit Concert with Jimmy Sturr- Mark your calendars, folks! July 27th at the Historic Track in Goshen. Come to the ‘America the Beautiful’ benefit concert for the Hudson Valley Honor Flight Veterans!!! Featuring Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra, with Special Guests; Chris Caffery (Trans-Siberian Orchestra), American Bombshell (The Andrews Sisters tribute) and Brass Transit (Chicago tribute). Plus, Doug Ferony and M.C. Joe Daily.  Great talent! Great cause!

- Veteran Camping Events Happening This Summer- Project Help and Oakland Valley Campground, in Cuddebackville, NY are excited to offer camping opportunities to veterans. VETERANS: Come join fellow comrades in a beautiful setting… river activities, swimming pool, recreation hall, camp store, hiking, fishing, tubing, yoga, sip and paint and more…

Dwyer Day of Wellness- Those who served -- and those who supported them in their service -- have an opportunity to experience various holistic alternatives for achieving and maintaining personal wellness. The setting for this event offers a peaceful and relaxing environment where children can play and and families and individuals can learn, share a meal, and laugh. - D-Day Press release- Please join the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8th, 2019 in commemorating the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. Call 845-561-1765 for reservations.

- Monroe Memorial Day Parade - opportunities for participation. Parade this Sunday, 26 May, with step-off at 1:30pm. Organizations can participate in marching in the event - see below for sequence of events, and/or they can use this opportunity to setup information booth/table for upcoming events, membership, ways citizens can be involved, etc.  This is setup in the center of the Village
The sequence of events are as follows:
11:30am - information booths can begin setting up (I provide table/chairs) in center of Village
12pm - marchers show up at Smith Clove Park
1:30pm - parade begins
3pm - approximate conclusion of parade
BBQ directly after the parade at American Legion Post 488 (FREE); all are invited. Thank you for the dissemination of this information to all!!!

- Now Recruiting: Next Step Internship Program for Careers in Homeless Services- ITS THAT TIME AGAIN! Project Renewal Next Step will begin recruiting for our Next Step Internship Program starting June 4th 2019 NSIP is an alternative engagement program with HRA that runs for 8 weeks and offers 140 hours of classroom training and 140 hours of paid on the job training.  Participants selected will work either as a Residential Aide or a Maintenance worker in a homeless shelter. Participants selected will have the ability to earn 4 certifications: Naloxone Administration, Fire Guard F02, Mental Health First Aid, and Crisis Prevention Intervention.  General requirements to apply are:
·         Client must be 18 years and older
·         Must have a High School Diploma or GED
·         Authorized to work in the United States

- 2019 Iron Chef BBQ Competition- Towns 4 Troops is a non-profit organization that was created by friends, families and community leaders in the Hudson Valley.  The sole purpose is to enhance the lives of our brave active-duty men and women who so gallantly serve our country.  We create social events, connect local  community resources and enhance base activities and deployments.  Our scope is not limited to   just active duty, but also include Reservists, National Guard and Gold Star Families. -CWCBExpo Trade Show Free Pass- Dear Hudson Valley Veteran Task Force, As you may know, cannabis and its derivatives are playing a big role in the recovery, transition and well-being of our veterans. We are learning more about the positive effects of cannabis almost daily. Orange County is now home to growers and dispensaries. A recent information session in New Windsor saw several hundred visitors including a large veteran turnout.  The positive benefits of cannabis continues with the 6th Annual Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition on Friday, May 31st which will introduce many veteran job opportunities in this industry which is currently experiencing exponential growth.  In addition, a discussion panel entitled, "Warrior Wellness: The Transition Epidemic Facing Veterans" will shed new light and information related to military to veteran transition. -Lest We Forget: Brooklyn's 152nd Memorial Day Parade! Former NY State Senator Marty Golden will lead thousands of marchers down 3rd Ave. as our Grand Marshal. The American Legion celebrating 100 years of service to Veterans and the community will serve as our Deputy Grand Marshal. Special guests include the Veterans Corps of ArtilleryHope for the Warriors and the 369th Experience. Come out to remember all those who paid such a terrible price in service to our nation and to honor all the families who must endure that loss.

Memorial service in Cannonball park immediately after the parade that includes bagpipes, laying of wreaths by Veteran Service Organizations, raising of our nations flag, a 21-gun salute by the Veteran Corps of Artillery, taps by 2 members of the Fort Hamilton Marching Regiment and a performance by the 369th Experience. This is a special event, one you will not want to miss!

-The New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs is honored to announce a special Art Exhibition showcasing the artistic talents of Women Veterans throughout New York State. Exhibition will be staged in gallery format inside the Concourse of the Empire State Plaza in Albany, N.Y. Opening in June, 2019 It will be highly visible to the many people who visit the New York State Capitol, the New York State Legislative Office Building, and other buildings within the Empire State Plaza complex throughout the exhibit duration. The exhibition will open in June 2019, to correspond with the annual program held at the Legislative Office Building honoring the service of New York State’s Women Veterans. See requirements attached for artwork to be displayed in the exhibit. You do not need to create a new work of art exclusively for this exhibition, although you're certainly welcome to do so. A work of art that was displayed at a prior exhibition is absolutely welcome for this exhibition as well. -Congressman Payne, Jr.’s Veteran Job Fair is seeking YOU! Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. in conjunction with The Essex County Continuum of Care Veteran Subcommittee are looking to recruit employers to participate in Congressman Payne, Jr.’s 2nd Annual Veterans Job Fair. A job fair where veterans will have the opportunity to network with various employers who have veteran hiring initiatives, as well as apply to jobs on the spot.
