I am reaching out to you today in hopes that you may be able to provide me with information on available Nursing Positions in the Vicenza, Italy area. Currently we are stationed at Fort Benning, GA where I am licensed and have been working as a Registered Nurse over the last year. My husband has received an assignment notification and we are scheduled to report to Vicenza Italy on 10 October 2020. Continuing to work and gain experience in the field of nursing is very important to me. I have been visiting USA JOBS and federal job websites daily with little luck. Is there any advice or avenues you would recommend when seeking available nursing positions on the army base in Vicenza Italy? Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter, any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Carol T

PACIFIC OCEAN (NNS) -- The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) responded to a distress call April 17 and rendered aid to a user of personal watercraft off the coast of Southern California.
Princeton’s bridge team plotted a course to the reported location and determined the distress call was in the ship’s path. Sailors formed a rescue team to assist the stranded person via a rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB).
Princeton’s bridge team plotted a course to the reported location and determined the distress call was in the ship’s path. Sailors formed a rescue team to assist the stranded person via a rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB).
Upon arrival, the Sailors discovered the personal watercraft was taking on water and about to capsize. The user was immediately given a lifejacket to ensure safety.
"They were shaking profusely while holding on to that jet ski as it was sinking," said Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) 2nd Class Brian Stankowitz, a temporary duty search and rescue (SAR) swimmer, from Trenton, New Jersey. "They told me that they were very cold and asked me to get them out of the water."
The user had been stranded in the water since 7 a.m. Stankowitz assessed the individual for injuries, and transferred the jet skier out of the water and into the RHIB.
“We answered the call, and they were so thankful that we did,” Stankowitz said. “That was the second rescue of my career as a SAR swimmer. Doing stuff like that, stuff that matters, really lifts the spirit of the entire crew.”
The rescued person was given a COVID-19 questionnaire once aboard the RHIB to ensure the safety of Princeton’s crew.
After rendering initial aid, Princeton’s rescue team transferred the individual to a U.S. Coast Guard vessel that returned them to land to receive further medical attention.
Princeton is currently underway conducting routine operations and preparing for deployment with Carrier Strike Group 11.

Can dogs and cats become infected with the COVID-19?
Can dogs and cats become infected with the COVID-19?
Many forms of coronaviruses exist, including those that infect cats and dogs. These canine- and feline-specific coronaviruses and their respective types (or groups) have no history of infecting people and are not related to the current COVID-19 crisis. While there have been isolated instances of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19 in humans) detection in both dogs and cats, at this time the only transmission process that’s been confirmed is from infected humans to cats, not from infected cats to humans. It is unlikely for COVID-19 to adapt itself following instances of infection in animals such as dogs and cats, and then transfer to people.
As stated by the American Veterinarian Medical Association, “infectious disease experts and multiple international and domestic human and animal health organizations (CDC, OIE, WHO) agree there is little to no evidence at this point to indicate that pets can spread COVID-19 to other animals, including people.” ¹ Out of an abundance of caution, if a person becomes infected with COVID-19, they should limit contact with pets.
There will continue to be intense scrutiny and evaluation by coronavirus disease experts of these rare, isolated cases of COVID-19 reported in animals.

K9s For Warriors - Because Together We Stand
The following is an excerpt from a blog on consumeradvocate.org written by Scott Smith.
James Rutland is a 12-year Army veteran who served a tour of duty in Iraq in 2004, followed by two more tours in South Korea. He left the military in 2014, suffering from multiple medical conditions related to his service, including mild traumatic brain injury (TBI), sleep apnea, and hearing loss, to name a few.
Most importantly, he suffered from depression and often thought about suicide. Thinking he could do it alone, Rutland tried healing from the trauma on his own. That wasn’t working. “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you always got,” says Rutland.
In 2016, Rutland finally rounded the bend of recovery when he was paired with his service dog, Dunkin. “I started focusing on “we instead of “me”, says Rutland.
He has a semi-colon tattoo on his right wrist, a known symbol of taking a pause when thinking about suicide. Unlike a “period” which ends a sentence, the semicolon creates a pause, for the reader, then continues the story. Rutland wears it proudly. “It’s a great conversation starter,” Rutland says.
He goes on to explain that breathing, family, friends, and the program that gave him Dunkin are what keeps him going.
K9s For Warriors is a BBB accredited charity organization located in Ponte Vedra, Florida, that has been pairing rescue dogs with traumatized soldiers since 2011. The dogs are trained to be service dogs, specifically performing tasks to quiet the symptoms of war trauma disabilities in soldiers.
“The skillsets our dogs learn help these warriors with anxiety, isolation, depression, and nightmares,” says Shari Duval, the founder of K9s For Warriors. “So, the warriors can function again in public.”
Specifically, the dogs are trained to deal with symptoms of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), or military sexual trauma (MST), as a result of military service on or after 9/11.-
Duval started the program after watching her son Brett Simon suffer from PTSD after he returned from Iraq. Simon did two tours, developing PTSD during the first one. Watching her son suffer from the debilitating condition motivated Duval to research alternative treatments to the standard talk therapy and medication, neither of which worked for her son.
“On average, soldiers take 14 meds a day to treat PTSD, TBI, or MST,” says Duval. If treatment is not working, she says veterans are prescribed more and more drugs. “I even knew one soldier who was taking 44 meds per day.”
After two years of researching alternative PTSD treatments, Duval came upon a program that paired service dogs to alleviate their PTSD symptoms in veterans.
According to Simon, “Mom was the one that suggested I use a service dog to deal with my PTSD when nothing else worked.” Duval saw her son’s symptoms begin to improve. She then wanted to help other veterans do the same.
Thus, the K9s For Warrior program was born. With her son’s background in training dogs, including 13 years as a canine police officer, Duval convinced Simon to start the nonprofit together.
To date, the program has rescued more than 850 dogs and 440 military service members, with an astounding 99 percent program success rate.

5 Ways to Nail a Zoom (Online) Interview
5 Ways to Nail a Zoom
(Online) Interview
When it comes to interviewing, it’s true that practice can make perfect.
But with the recent addition of web-based video platforms such as Zoom, job seekers
are now finding themselves on the other side of a computer screen instead of a
table – many for the first time. Whether you are a recent graduate or seasoned
professional, here are five ways you can prepare for a successful online
interview.
- Don’t let a bad connection create a bad first impression. Nothing ruins a good first impression like a frozen image, especially if you’re caught in an unflattering pose. Make sure to power up and check your internet connection at least ten minutes before your scheduled interview. If the connection is slow, keep your cell phone or landline nearby so that you can call in if needed. It also can’t hurt to position the camera or computer so that you look and feel your best.
- Dress to impress – at least from the top up. Your style says a lot about you, even if it’s just your top half. Aim for a creative professional look from the waist up that will capture your interviewers’ attention without making them dizzy. Try bold colors or smaller prints, and avoid stripes if possible. Accessories are a great way to showcase your personality, but be careful – noisy earrings and bracelets can distract your audience.
- Gesticulation is not articulation. Controlling hand movements during an in-person interview is important, but on screen it’s absolutely necessary. Depending on the internet connection, your hand or head movements can appear blurry or choppy to the interviewer(s), taking the attention away from what you’re saying – and the great experience you have to offer.
- Location. Location. Location. The three rules of real estate apply to interviewing on Zoom or any web video platform. Try to find a quiet space with a clutter-free backdrop. For example, if you’re interviewing in your room or office, take a look behind you and make sure the interviewer’s view is free of clutter and other distracting items.
- Smile! Interviews, whether on-line or in person, can be nerve wracking for everyone involved. Put yourself and your interviewers at ease by smiling from the very first moment that you’re connected. Though it may be harder to build a personal connection over the web, this simple yet effective non-verbal communication tool is enough to get the conversation off to a great start.
With these things in mind, you’ll be able to focus on demonstrating how
great you are for the job – and how awesome you are with technology!
