Greetings,
VA Loma Linda is honored to have been selected as a pilot site for the
Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act H.R. 203 (Section
5). The Clay Hunt SAV ACT was created to address the high rate
of suicide amongst our Veteran population. As a pilot site, we are
charged with creating an integrated approach to serving this vulnerable Veteran
population by connecting with community stakeholders, government, educational
entities that include external members from community organizations, state and
local governments, colleges and universities, chambers of commerce and other
local business organizations, and organizations that provide legal aid or
advice.
To this end,
we have created the VA Loma Linda Veterans Veteran’s Community Outreach Team (VCOT).
This robust and diverse entity serves to educate, gain interest in, and enact
the requirements of Section 5 of the Clay Hunt SAV Act. We invite Lucy
Jenson to be a member of VCOT and work with us to implement the
act.
VCOT meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 1400 at
Loma Linda VA Ambulatory Care Center (Location of room # will be emailed prior
to each meeting). Please free to contact
