On Friday, November 11, 2016, Operation Confidence a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization  will host " A Tribute To Our Disabled Veterans" aboard the historical Queen Mary, in Long Beach, California, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. Red carpet 6:00/7:00 p.m.

The tribute will honor disabled veterans of the World War ll, Korean War, Vietnam, Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan era. We will also give a presentation about Operation Confidence's  proposed project  "The Turning Point Housing Program for Homeless Disabled Veterans" a 2-year transitional  accessible housing program.

The purpose for the event is to not only honor our disabled veterans, but to raise  awareness about the urgent need to get our homeless disabled veterans off the streets of Los Angeles and  gain support to obtain a transitional living house for Operation Confidence Turning Point Housing Project For Homeless Disabled Veterans (TPHP).  The TPHP will provide special services to help this forgotten population regain a feeling of self worth and the necessary tools to make a positive transition/contribution back into society.

Operation Confidence has assisted over 10,000 + individuals with disabilities with wraparound services to better their lives in mainstream society. During our over 30 year history we have also hosted job fairs and community outreach events throughout the city of Los Angeles by collaborating with a number of Fortune 500 corporations and small businesses to connect clients with career and employment opportunities.

In 2008, while serving on the Los Angeles Union Rescue Mission Advisory Council we discovered a large community of disabled veterans living in their wheelchairs on the streets of Skid Row, in downtown Los Angeles. Several were  still wearing portions of their military uniform and displaying pieces left of the American flag. Shocked that we could not fine anything was being done, Operation Confidence made a commitment to expand its program in order to do its part to help this forgotten population.

From 2009 to present, we hosted major resource and job fairs throughout the city of Los Angeles. One such event was held on the grounds of the LA Sports Arena  Click here: A TRIBUTE TO OUR WOUNDED VETERANS. - YouTube
It was after that event that we found our work had just begun. The TPHP was needed first to provide assessable transitional housing and rehabilitation services before job preparation workshops and employment opportunities.
