K-9 Trainer



K-9 Trainer
Location – CONUS & OCONUS

Competencies
The required competencies of the K-9 Trainer include, but are not limited to:
Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to create, to maintain, and prepare records and reports
Able to perform tasks with minimal oversight
Ability to problem solve and work with minimal supervision
Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills

Qualifications and Experience
The K-9 Trainer should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field or relevant military or law enforcement experience
International experience preferred in logistics, operations, and training management
Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a civilian or Military Working Dog (MWD) handler or Kennel Master
Been deployed, either as a civilian or military, in either Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom as an Explosive Detector Dog handler or Kennel Master for a period of one year or more.
Must be certified by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) to handle/store explosives as identified in Army Regulation (AR) 190-12.
Intermediate user level of computer systems; Microsoft office software (word, power point, excel, projects, outlook) and database systems; and
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Other Requirements
The K-9 Trainer, in addition to the above listed requirements, shall:
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak the English language
Must be able to prepare detailed comprehensive reports
Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
