Coups For Troops'

As a new stay-at-home momma of boy/girl twins, our founder Stephanie Almasy had to find a way to save her family money.  Several of her girlfriends were doing really well at couponing, saving their families hundreds of dollars each month.  So Stephanie attended a local coupon class in February 2011 to learn the tricks of the trade.  At the end of the class, the instructor briefly mentioned that US military families overseas could use coupons up to 6 months past expiration. In March, Stephanie created Coups For Troops to get the word out to US couponers, “don't throw away your expired coupons!”

Coups For Troops' first shipment of coupons went out to twenty-six families in April 2011.  Just a few months later, they had almost eight hundred military families signed up to receive coupons in over 10 countries. With so many soldiers in need, Coups For Troops is now offering two ways for folks to donate their expired and unwanted coupons.

1.  Direct Mail is their program that matches US couponers with military families stationed overseas.  Couponers can correspond through email with “their family” and send their expired coupons right to the soldier's door.  If you're interested in Direct Mail, please email  directmail@coupsfortroops.com

2.  Couponers may send their expired coupons to one of Coups For Troops' satellite locations/drop off locations across the country.  CFT will then package up those coupons and ship them to coupon swap groups organized by their coupon recipients overseas.  These swap groups meet several times a month and share coupons with multiple military families.  Coups For Troops believes this promotes community amongst US families stationed abroad.
